Guarantee of protection of personal data
The Provincial Council of Bizkaia ensures the strictest confidentiality in the collection and processing of data provided by users. Furthermore, it has adopted the legally required levels of security for the protection of personal data, and has implemented all available technical means and measures to prevent the loss, misuse, alteration, unauthorized access, and theft of the personal data provided.
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), published in May 2016 and applicable from May 25, 2018, is a regulation of direct application throughout the European Union, relating to the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and the free circulation of such data.

The Provincial Council of Bizkaia and its regional public sector act as controllers and processors of citizens’ personal data in the performance of many of their activities. Consequently, they comply with the current legal guarantees and the new ones incorporated in the new GDPR. The Provincial Council of Bizkaia will provide registered individuals with the appropriate technical resources so that, prior to submitting their personal data, they can access this notice on the Personal Data Protection Policy or any other relevant information, and can provide their consent for the Provincial Council of Bizkaia to automatically process their personal data.
DPO: The creation, appointment, and regulation of the DATA PROTECTION OFFICER of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia and Provincial Entities of the public sector was approved by Agreement of the Governing Council on May 15, 2018. This appointment was published in the Official Gazette of Bizkaia in the BOB. No. 99 of May 24, 2018, and its official communication was made to the Basque Data Protection Agency (AVPD).
